How It Works
Everything you need to know - whether you're the person checking in or a contact who receives alerts.
For the Person Checking In
Someone set up a check-in plan for you. All you need to do is confirm you're OK on a regular schedule. Here's how.
Click the Button
- Open your check-in link (bookmark it or save it to your home screen)
- You'll see a big green I'm OK button
- Tap or click it. That's it.
Tip: On your phone, open the link in Safari or Chrome and choose "Add to Home Screen." It will appear as an app icon you can tap each day.
Reply to the Email
- You'll receive a reminder email when it's time to check in
- Reply to the email with the word OK
- Any reply containing "ok", "yes", "good", or "fine" works too
What Happens If You Miss a Check-In
Don't worry - the system gives you time. Here's the sequence:
1. You get a gentle reminder when your check-in is coming due
2. If you miss it, you get an urgent reminder
3. If you still don't check in, you get a final warning
4. If the grace period passes, your contacts are notified
If you check in after your contacts have been alerted, they automatically receive an all-clear message.
For Contacts (Family & Friends)
Someone added you as their emergency contact. Here's what that means and what to expect.
What You'll Receive
- Verification email - First, you'll get an email asking you to verify your address. Click the link to activate alerts.
- Missed check-in alert - Only if the person misses their scheduled check-in and the grace period passes.
- All-clear - When the person checks back in after a missed window, you'll get an automatic all-clear.
What To Do If You Get an Alert
- Don't panic. The person may have simply forgotten or been busy.
- Try reaching them by phone or text.
- If you reach them, ask them to check in at their link.
- If you can't reach them and you're worried, trust your judgment on next steps.
Bookmark Their Status Page
The person who added you can share their check-in page link with you. Bookmark it to check their status anytime - you'll see when they last checked in and whether they're on schedule. You don't need an account.
Common Questions
Do I need an account?
No. Everything works with links. No account, no app, no password.
What if I check in late?
That's fine. Check in whenever you can. The system will send you reminders first, then only alert your contacts after a grace period.
Can I pause my check-ins?
Yes. The person managing the plan can pause it at any time. No alerts will be sent while paused.
Is my data private?
Completely. Only you and your designated contacts can see your check-in status. There are no public pages or profiles.
What devices work?
Any device with a web browser or email. You can check in from a phone, tablet, computer, or even a basic email client.
